Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Students, faculty and staff

  • Undergraduate students
  • Graduate students
    • Graduate students are eligible to receive Ontario Tech's licensed software where Ontario Tech's existing licence agreements permit and where feasible.
    • The most commonly requested software applications are available through the Software Portal.
    • Please follow instructions to download software via the Software Portal.
  • Faculty and staff

    Faculty and staff will receive approved software preinstalled on their university laptop and/ or through the Ontario Tech Software Portal. If a faculty or staff member has not participated in the yearly software refresh process, older or expired software versions will need to be uninstalled before proceeding with downloads.

    Please follow instructions to download software via the Software Portal. Note that the Software Portal has replaced the previous method of downloading software via LANDesk.

    Faculty members who teach undergraduate courses will receive the same software as the undergraduate students enrolled in their courses.  Please note that the software is provided for undergraduate teaching purposes only. Please contact software@ontariotechu.ca to confirm license coverage if other uses are needed (such as academic research). Teaching Assistants do not receive the software for their role by default, requests must be submitted by the Faculty using the Software Form.

    If additional software is required please complete the online Software Form.

    • Where licenses need to be purchased and a cost is involved, ITS will contact the appropriate budget holder for approval.  
    • Once the software has been procured, the faculty/staff member will be contacted with details regarding how the software will be deployed.

Current university faculty/staff and students can acquire a licensed copy of Microsoft Office for their use - at no additional cost! Sign into the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus page with your network login to view further details regarding this offer.

I can't find the software that I require for my course.  What do I do?

If there is course software that is not available to you in the Software Portal, please email the IT Service Desk or call 905.721.3333, option 1 and a Service Desk technician will be pleased to assist you.
