Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus

All students and employees at Ontario Tech University are eligible to acquire a licensed copy of Office 365 ProPlus for both institutional business and personal use at no additional cost. This offer is available to all active university community including:

  • Faculty and staff (full-time, part-time and contract)
  • Students
  • Graduate student employees
  • Core Faculty
  • Sessionals
  • Teaching and research assistants
Office 365 ProPlus license includes:
  • Access (excluding Mac)
  • Excel
  • OneNote
  • Outlook
  • PowerPoint
  • Publisher 
  • Skype for Business 
License terms:

The licenses can be installed on either personally owned or university-owned devices, a total of 15 possible installations over three types of devices.

  • 5 installs to PCs or Macs 
  • 5 installs to tablets (Android or iOS)
  • 5 installs to smartphones (Office Mobile for Android or iPhones)
Additional details:
  • The software connects to Microsoft each time it is run to confirm the specific license is still valid. This check occurs in the background without the need for users to take any action aside from having an internet connection. If 30 days of running the software passes without an internet connection, the software will run in a reduced function mode (read and print only) until a connection is made again. As a subscription edition, Microsoft updates Office 365 regularly, as often as monthly.
  • Licenses are assigned to devices on a permanent basis.  If you no longer use the device or wish to free up a license to use on an alternative device visit: https://portal.office.com/account under Install Status and deactivate the instance for the appropriate devices.  Note this is only required for Windows and Mac PCs.
  • For tablets and phones, the Office 365 App is available from the appropriate App Store. After downloading the app, your Office 365 credentials will active it.
  • Upon leaving employment at the university, the Microsoft licenses will expire and the software will not continue to validate when connecting with Microsoft. The functionality will be limited and employees will be responsible to either acquire licensing from Microsoft or remove the software.
