TECHNOLOGY ENRICHED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT (TELE)
Ontario Tech University is a proud leader among Canadian universities in the delivery of technology-enriched learning. Since opening its doors in 2003, the university has provided industry-leading hardware and software tools across the curriculum to produce tech-savvy graduates who are adaptable to technological change. The Technology-Enriched Learning Environment (TELE) program provides students with tools to aid in academic success and has two operating models: Laptop TELE and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) TELE.
LAPTOP TELE MODEL
Students in the Laptop TELE model will be provided with a university owned laptop for use in their academic studies. Faculty included in the Laptop TELE model for the 2019-20 academic year is:
Please note: Current FEAS year 2+ students entering 2020-21 academic year will transition to BYOD TELE model.
BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE (BYOD) TELE MODEL
Students participating in the BYOD TELE model will bring their own laptop to use in their academic studies via one of the following methods:
- purchase a device through a vendor of your choice or bring a device you already own. Be sure to review the recommended minimum hardware specifications in the Laptop Standards tab to ensure that the device will run with university provided software.
- purchase a suggested device.
Faculties included in the BYOD TELE model for the 2019-20 academic year are:
- Faculty of Business and Information Technology
- Faculty of Education
- Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science
- Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (Year One) Please note: FEAS students entering 2020-21 academic year will continue to participate in BYOD TELE model.
- Faculty of Health Sciences
- Faculty of Science
- Faculty of Social Science and Humanities
