Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

A/V equipment and resources

The following audio visual equipment can be reserved through the IT Service Desk.

  • Data projectors/VCR/DVD/computer carts
    Available for sign-out and used in classrooms equipped with standard audio visual equipment only (overhead projector). Units have a combined DVD/VCR/computer/data projector which enables users to project DVD/video onto the screen. Also enables users to use standard computer software which is on each unit. Carts may be picked up and transported to classrooms and returned promptly. Please provide name, date, time and room number when booking.
  • Flipcharts
    Flipcharts with paper are available to sign-out. Please bring your own markers and contact the program co-ordinator if large quantities of paper are required. Please note: Easels for signs and displays are not available.
  • Portable data projectors and flat panel display
    Available for professors to sign-out for specific instructional use.
  • Portable projection screens
    Available for sign-out and used in areas not equipped with permanent screens.
  • Tripods
    Tripods are available for sign-out. Tripods are used in conjunction with camcorders and may be reserved along with camcorder unit.
How do I request classroom support or book equipment?

To request classroom support or to book equipment, please contact the IT Service Desk. When booking equipment from Audio Visual Services for classroom presentations, please provide the following information:

  • Your name and student/Banner number.
  • Classroom number.
  • Date and time of presenation.
  • Equipment you wish to book.
  • Professor's name (student's only).

Attention students: if you are doing a group presenation, please appoint one person to submit a request to book audio visual equipment.

A/V event support and resources may be requested by contacting the IT Service Desk. A minimum of 7 days advance notice is required per request for consideration. A technician will confirm if your request can be accommodated.
