Some of my emails contain confidential material. How will you maintain email privacy?
Google maintains Privacy Policies for each of its applications. For a complete list and access to each of these policies, please visit Google's Privacy Center Security & Privacy. However, confidential or sensitive information should NEVER be sent through email.

Is my information publicly available?
By default OntarioTechu.Net services are not publicly available. Users can personally configure each tool to meet their specific needs. Information can be protected by only granting access to trusted individuals. Please exercise caution when sharing information with others for added protection.

Is Google keeping track of my OntarioTechu.Net web history?
Web History is turned on for OntarioTechu.Net users. If you do not want your Web History recorded, please view the instructions on how to turn it off.

How can I ensure that my account is safe when I use a shared or public computer?
Always sign out of your OntarioTechu.Net account at the end of your session. If you do not sign out, the next person who uses the computer may be able to access your information.

What policies apply to my OntarioTechu.Net mail account?
Your OntarioTechu.Net account is subject to UOIT’s Technology Use Policy, and Google’s terms of service and privacy policy.

How will Google handle spam and viruses?
Google filters for viruses and spam before delivering the message; please refer to How is spam handled and Anti-virus scanning.

How do I prevent messages from specific senders being tagged as spam?
To make sure that any messages you receive from a specific person outside our domain pass through the spam filter, create an email filter using the Never send it to Spam option. To learn more about using Gmail's filters, please visit Google Support.

How do I report junk e-mail?

Will I see Google related advertising?
No. All OntarioTechu.Net accounts will not receive advertising.

Where is my email physically located?
All @uoit.net account files are stored in Google-owned servers around the world along with other Gmail accounts.

Can anyone at the university read my email?
UOIT respects your privacy. Select UOIT employees are responsible for managing @uoit.net accounts but do not access inboxes.
