What is OntarioTechu.Net?
OntarioTechu.Net is the University Of Ontario Institute of Technology’s brand for the Google Apps for Education applications. OntarioTechu.Net includes all the Google Apps for Education deployed to students (Gmail, Google Drive, Hangouts and Google Calendar).

Who is eligible to receive a OntarioTechu.Net account?
UOIT undergraduates, graduates and alumni will receive a OntarioTechu.Net account. Faculty and staff who would like an account have the ability to request one.

What does this cost UOIT?
The Google Apps for Education service is free to schools, colleges and universities.

How do I login into my OntarioTechu.Net account?
- Go to: http://mail.uoit.net
- You will be prompted by UOIT’s Central Authentication Service (CAS) to log in with your 100xxxxx and network password.
- You will be logged into your OntarioTechu.Net account where you can select the application you wish to use.

What applications are available?
The University will use the Google Apps for Education Edition, and the following applications will be available:
- Gmail (email)
- Google Calendar
- Google Docs / Drive (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations)
- Hangouts
Additional Google features or applications may be added, based on value and fit. New features or applications will undergo a thorough review and test phase before deployment to the UOIT community.

May I choose my login and password?
Your OntarioTechu.Net account credentials are your 100xxxxx number and network password.

How do I change my OntarioTechu.Net password?
To change your network password, simply press CTRL+ALT+DELETE when logged into the network and select "Change Password". Please keep in mind when changing this password, it MUST be at least 8 characters in length and cannot be one of the previous 5 passwords that have been used.

Who administers OntarioTechu.Net (Google for Education) accounts?
OntarioTechu.Net powered by Google for Education will be administered by IT Services

Which web browsers can I use with Google Apps?

Is Google for Education available in English or another language?
The interface for Google Apps is available in many different languages. For a list of the available languages and instructions on how to set a different language, refer to the Google Support.

Are there any other system requirements?
No. Google Apps runs in a web browser so you just need to use a supported browser.

How do I set up my mobile device to access my OntarioTechu.Net account or use an external email client instead of a web browser?

Will UOIT provide support for OntarioTechu.Net?
Yes, the IT Service Desk will provide support for access to your OntarioTechu.Net account. If you require assistance with any of the Google for Education please refer to the Google Help Center.

How can I be certain that my OntarioTechu.Net email session is completely “logged out”?
To end your OntarioTechu.Net session, click your account photo or email address in the top right corner, and select Sign out. We encourage you to log out of OntarioTechu.Net after each session to protect the security of your email information. Logging out of OntarioTechu.Net is especially important if you check your email on a public computer.
