We have a new staff member in our office. How do I get them set up with an email, phone extension, etc.?
Complete a New Hire Form for the new staff member (posted on the IT Service Desk portal) and forward to the IT Service Desk. Please note: Only the assigned administrator (Administrative Assistant/Planning & Budget Officer) will have access to this form.

I would like to access my email and MyCampus from a computer that is off campus. Is there a way to do this?
Yes. You can use a common web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox) to access a number of systems/applications. Please click on links below:

I would like to order some equipment for my department. Is there certain equipment that UOIT uses as their standard?
Yes. ITS has Equipment Standards which is comprised of standard PCs, printers and peripherals currently authorized for purchase and supported by ITS. To order and/or request equipment:
- Submit your request through the Service Desk.
- Include you departmental Fund & Org. IT Services will create a chargeback for the items you have ordered.

- There is some specific software that is not on my machine. How do I order it?

What Microsoft operating systems are supported at UOIT?
UOIT recommends that all computer systems be configured with Microsoft Windows 8-64 bit(not starter or Home Edition) or newer with all available security patches installed. To ensure ongoing support, it is recommended that equipment be purchased from the UOIT Equipment Standards list. Please see Microsoft notice on Windows OS which are no longer supported by Microsoft and UOIT.

What Mac OS X operating sytems are supported at UOIT?
UOIT IT Services provides support for Mac OS X at the current version and only on equipment purchased with assistance from IT Services.

PASSWORDS

How do I change my network password?
To change your network password you must be on campus. Simply hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE when logged into the network and select Change Password. Please keep in mind when changing this password that it MUST be at least six characters in length and cannot be one of the previous 10 passwords that have been used.

My phone isn't working. How do I get it fixed?

- I am trying to contact a staff/faculty member. Is there a directory that I can access online?

Some of my information on the staff directory is incorrect. How do I get it updated?
If you are a faculty or staff member, you can have your directory information updated by sending an e-mail to directory@dc-uoit.ca.

I would like to print a copy of the staff directory for my use. How do I do this?
To print various staff lists and directories:
- log onto MyCampus;
- click on the Employees tab;
- click on Telephone Directory;
- click on Print Reports icon;
- Select the type of list that you would like print; and
- Submit query

One of our staff members have been approved to purchase a mobile device. Can they go to the store to purchase it themselves?
No. Staff wishing to order a mobile device must submit a request to the IT service desk. IT Services will order the unit and upon receipt will contact the end user to schedule a convenient time to set up and install the device. A purchase order is not necessary as the vendor will invoice the user directly.

How do I request a UOITnet account?
Please visit UOITnet Account Request.

How do I login into my UOITnet account?
- Go to: http://mail.uoit.net
- You will be prompted by UOIT’s Central Authentication Service (CAS) to log in with your 100xxxxx and network password.
- You will be logged into your UOITnet account where you can select the application you wish to use.

I don’t want a UOITnet Google for Education account. What are my options?
UOITnet accounts for faculty and staff are optional and your Microsoft exchange account is your primary communication tool at UOIT. If you decide at a later date that you want an account simply go to the UOITnet Account Request utility to request one.

What will my UOITnet account email address look like?
Your UOITnet account will follow this structure: firstname.lastname@uoit.net. Please note: there may be times when a number is appended to the account to ensure unique account creation; for example, firstname.lastname4@uoit.net.
